Hello There
Hello friend,
I’m assuming you’re on this page to find out a little more about me and my maker journey, so feel free to read on-
Background
I have a bachelors in Art Therapy, and worked in a nursing home setting since I graduated.
After a while I was starting to feel really restless and like I needed a change. I was also was going through a lot of physical issues with my ankle, which I have now had three surgeries on, and the transporting and walking was getting to be too much for me at the nursing home.
An opportunity then presented itself and I made a huge career shift to working in a manufacturing setting, welding, working on giant punch presses, and even doing electrical and programing PLCs.
I really enjoyed it but unfortunately it was short lived because we decided to move out of state for my better half’s job opportunity.
The Move
So, we moved from freezing cold Wisconsin to beachy Delaware!
I decided to take the move across country to try and get my crafty little business up and running. One thing I learned in the manufacturing business is that I love to work with my hands!
I wasn’t getting enough of this working at the nursing home. And while I also love working with people, it was probably the hardest job I’ve ever done. I’m a very sensitive person and after a long day at the nursing home I would come home and just feel mentally and physically DRAINED.
This left me with no energy to do what I really love, create!
Parenthood
Shortly after our move to Delaware I found out I was pregnant, and I took a lot of time off from this space, and creating in general. I was still crocheting, but not with a lot of intent and not really things that I wanted to make a lot of to sell. Which was what I was trying to do with my Etsy shop.
Fast forward to two beautiful babies, and I’ve found what I’m most passionate about; making toys for little ones! You can check out my Etsy shop here I also take custom orders, so feel free to send a message with any inquiries.
Parenthood has challenged me in ways I never thought imaginable. There are good days, and bad days, and even great days. All I can do is try and take it one at a time, savor the moments, and be so grateful that I get to be with them, as well as work on my small business.
I really feel like I’ve found myself in Motherhood, I’ve found my passion and my reason ‘why’
This has brought me to this little corner of the internet where I hope to share with you, crafty makes, crochet patterns and things to just get your creative mojo flowing!
I would love to see any and all your creations, share them with me on Instagram @fibersbyphoenix. Feel free to also shop around my Etsy, I sell handmade crocheted items and take custom orders as well!
